We may hate it to admit, but we often hear news of people dying due to heart attack and high blood pressure related condition. The current mortality rate provokes a silent panic for people in their 40s and up. Let’s not discount the fact that high blood pressure is a silent killer due to the absence of notable symptoms. However, it does not mean there’s nothing you can do to prevent and control it to enjoy a longer life. It would almost seem, in fact, that a quest for immortality has replaced our search for longevity!

It certainly seems to me that recently the media has bombarded us with exorbitant numbers of featured articles praising research on the heart benefits of red wine (resveratrol), the memory loss benefits of coffee (caffeine), and the amazing benefits of an exceptional number of exotic supplements that singularly promise to decrease or prevent all causes of mortality. In deed, if the reports and tabloid ads are accurately measuring the pulse of our nation, our quest for longevity has taken a back seat to a craving for immortality.
