How To Use Cosmetic Fillers To Get A Fresh Natural Look
What are cosmetic fillers?
If you don’t know much about fillers, you may think of Hollywood stars or socialites you have seen in magazines who look too full, or ‘too done’ and we get put off. Yet fillers can be used to minimize the effects of aging and enhance your natural beauty. By using a more soft and gentle approach, fillers can achieve a fresh look in a totally natural way, and without long periods of swelling and bruising.
What are they used for?
* Fillers can be used to soften the nasolabial (nose to mouth) folds and other pronounced lines and wrinkles in the face. * They can be used to smoothen bags under the eyes and reduce dark circles. * Fillers can be used to enhance the lips, cheeks and chin, and define the nose. * They can be used to increase volume in other areas in the face and replace fat loss. * Another use for fillers is hydrobalance, which is hydration of the skin to make it more youthful and supple. This can be used in the face, neck, decolletage and hands and makes the skin moisturised and fresh-looking.
Different kinds of fillers
For longer lasting injections that stimulate collagen deeper in the skin we recommend using the popular hyaluronic acid-based fillers. * Restylane * Perlane * Juvederm
Collagen
Collagen is a protein that acts as a support structure for your skin. As you get older though, your support structure is lessened and your skin will lose its elasticity. Collagen injections can help to maintain the skin’s natural collagen and keep the skin subtle and elastic. Collagen is injected into the skin.
Perlane
Perlane is a hyaluronic acid gel. It is a fully biodegradable product and as hyaluronic acid is naturally present in the skin, it is readily accepted by the body. For this reason no prior skin testing is necessary. Results last from 6-9 months.
Restylane
Restylane is another cosmetic filler that looks like a clear gel. As it also contains hyaluronic acid, the chance of any allergic reactions are very small. As it is fully biodegradable, your body will reabsorb it within about six months of the injection.
Juvederm
Juvederm is a cosmetic filler that is also made of hyaluronic acid. It is fully biodegradable and will reasorb within 6 months to one year of the injection.
What is the exact procedure?
After evaluation by your doctor, your skin will be marked with strategic points which indicate the injections sites. Your skin will then be cleaned and numbing cream will be applied. After the numbing cream has taken effect , the filler gels will be injected into the skin with a very fine needle. It is generally a quick procedure lasting a few minutes, after which your face will be cleaned and you can apply makeup if you wish.
Are there any risks or side effects?
Risks are minimal but some patients may experience skin sensitivity, redness or mild bruising. Experienced discomfort is the least for under eye treatment, which will also give you an instantly fresher look. Results are immediate and subtle, yet visible.
What is the frequency of the procedure?
Results are immediate after one treatment. Treatments every 6 to 12 months are recommended to maintain the results.
