HCG Diet Plateau Breakers
Here are 15 plateau breaking tips that are very effective when used during Phase 2 of the hCG diet protocol. By following these tips you should be able to jump start your diet and achieve your weight loss goals. When following any low calorie or very low calorie diet, you should always consult with a qualified physician.
Increase your fluid intake to 2-3 quarts or 8 to 12 eight-ounce bottles of water per day. Additional fluids will assist in promoting adequate digestion, help prevent constipation and may help to flush out toxins and fat.
If you are not eating enough calories on a daily basis, less than 550 as a rule of thumb, your body can go into “starvation mode”. When your body goes into starvation mode it will store fat. You can try adding half an ounce of protein to one of your meals daily.
The “apple day”. Reduce your fluid intake by 1 quart and eat 6 apples throughout the day. This method typically will rid the body of excess fluids and most patients state they lose about 2 pounds. This method is not recommended on a continuous basis.
Consuming red meat more than 1 or 2 times per week is not recommended, as it has been shown to slow down digestion.
Make sure you are not using garlic salt. Sea salt and garlic powder are acceptable. All seasoning salts or seasoning products should not be used when on the hCG diet.
Make sure that you are not mixing vegetables at each individual meal.
Do not consume any of the carbohydrate snacks that are normally allowed on the hCG diet.
Do not eat the same protein, vegetable or fruit more than one time in the same day.
Do not consume any protein sources that contain antibiotics or flavor enhancers. Try to stick to organic sources of protein.
Do not eat any canned food products. These have preservatives and flavor enhancers that may slow down weight loss.
Using the “steak day” method,bn patients following the hCG diet have lost up to 2 pounds the following day. Physicians do not recommend using the “steak day” method more than 2 times in a 6 week period. This method includes drinking as much fluid as possible throughout the day and then eating a steak for dinner. You are allowed to have an apple and a tomato with dinner on “steak day”.
Constipation is the leading cause of a weight loss stall on the hCG diet or any high protein diet. Drinking more water and taking an over-the-counter fiber supplement will aid with intestinal digestion and prevent constipation. If discomfort occurs or if you have not had results within 3 days, a gentle laxative should then be taken. Contact your personal physician if you have not experienced a bowel movement after 5 days or more.
Apple Cider Vinegar has been found to have similar fat releasing properties to that of grapefruit. That makes Raw Unfiltered Apple Cider Vinegar one of the best condiments you are allowed to use on the hCG diet. If you dislike the taste, you can use Apple Cider Vinegar capsules which can be found in most health food shops.
It is not recommended to exercise strenuously while on the hCG diet. Resistance training builds lean muscle which weighs more than fat, thereby causing inaccurate weight loss results. Low impact cardiovascular exercise such as walking on a treadmill for 30 minutes or swimming is highly recommended. Toning lean muscle is better suited to be utilized in Phases 3 and 4 of the hCG diet.
Get enough sleep. Many patients have reported that not enough sleep has reflected little or no weight loss on the following day.
By following any number of these tips you should be back on your way to achieving your hCG diet weight loss goals. Just remember that these plateau breaking tips are most effective when used in conjunction with Phase 2 of the hCG diet protocol.
