Detox With Negative Ions
Many Americans suffer from worsening health which can be traced back the the state of their indoor air quality. Due to the large amounts of toxins used in everything from carpets to wall paint, people are being continually exposed to harmful airborne substances. A popular new method of dealing with this persistant problem is to use negative ions to purify the air.
Negative ions are able to clean the air by attaching themselves to airborne particulates such as pollen and dust, which causes them to clump together and fall to the ground, leaving the air clean. The problem with a traditional air purifier is that they require filters that allow small particulate to pass through and remain in the air. Another issue is that all the fan induced air movement can stir up dust.
Salt lamps are able to purify the air without disturbing the air flow. The heat from the light bulb as well as the moisture in the air increase the amount of negative ions released from the salt crystal lamp. By leaving the lamp on continuously it also improves its function because it is hygroscopic.
The common sensation of feeling alive, or calm and attentive that accompanies natural places such as waterfalls or during a thunderstorm are a direct result of the naturally occurring negative ions at these locations.
An anecdotal discovery by Dr. Clarence Hansell occurred when his colleague was working near an electrostatic generator that generated ions. The worker began to exhibit varying moods depending on the positive or negative setting of the machine. At the times that the machine produced negative ions, he was generally in a good mood and more alert. Positive ions had the opposite effect.
Ions can act on our ability to utilize oxygen with the most positive effects from negative ions. Negative ions in the blood stream speed the delivery of oxygen throughout the body, benefiting our cells and tissues, while providing an energized euphoric feeling.
Special ionized rooms have also been used in treating burn victims at Philadelphia’s Northeastern Hospital, as it was found that negative ions helped tranquilize those in pain. Dr. Robert McGowan also noted that “negative ions make burns dry out faster, heal faster and with less scarring. They also reduce the need for skin grafting. They make the patient more optimistic. He sleeps better.”
Salt caves have been recreated by placing large amounts of Himalayan salt in a room to provide easy breathing for people with respiratory ailments. Being surrounded by negative ion producing Himalayan salt the occupier is able to enjoy many therapeutic benefits.
Another effective way to get exposure to negative ions is by using a Himalayan inhaler. By breathing in through a Himalayan inhaler air is drawn past the salt crystals. This brings a concentrated dose of negative ions straight into the body.
Using natural Himalayan inhalers or salt lamps to clean your indoor air is only getting easier. With most of these products becoming more readily available there is not reason not to benefit from the benefits of negative ions.
