If you are a tinnitus suffer (like me) then you could have tried all kinds of tinnitus therapy over the years. Because it’s such an irritating condition we sufferers tend to be terribly persistent in attempting just about anything! If somebody told me to wear totally different coloured socks as a cure, I would be onto it in a flash!

There are many tools available today to help the hearing impaired such as hearing aids, learning how to lip read and closed-captioning for television. There are a lot of people in this world who are born deaf, but it somehow seems even more tragic when a child loses his sense of hearing through an accident or sickness.

When obtaining hearing aids for the first time, a lot of patience is on the part of the new wearer, his family and friends. The technician should take the time to make sure you get the best fit possible. Counselling on the maintenance and care of the hearing aid is the easiest part, the difficult part is learning to listen through the hearing aid. The person wearing the hearing aid must also learn to be patient with themselves.
